The planetarium organizes an astronomy tour from November to December
KUCHING (November 19): Sultan Iskandar Planetarium is hosting a Friends of Astronomy Tour to be held in Kuching, Sri Aman, Sibu, Bintulu and Miri from November to December.
According to a press release, the roadshow in Kuching will be held from today (November 19) to November 21 at the Vivacity Megamall.
The event aims to raise awareness among the public, especially students, about astronomy.
The highlight of the program is a mini planetarium where visitors will be able to experience being in the universe through simulations of the night sky among the planets, moon and constellations through a digital show on the astronomy.
Apart from this, visitors can also witness a digital spectacle with elements of international astronomy.
In addition, hands-on activities will take place during the roadshow, where students can learn how to make sky maps and understand how to use the planetarium software. There will also be astronomy quizzes and science shows.
Previously, roadshows were only organized in schools and did not involve the public.
This time, the roadshow will be held in a popular supermarket in order to attract many visitors of all ages and give them the opportunity to visit the exhibition.
The Sultan Iskandar Planetarium team will be present at each location of the roadshow to offer more people the opportunity to participate in the activities.
Organizers will also focus on Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) during the roadshow.
The Sultan Iskandar Planetarium is a unit under the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Research.
