The CSN Planetarium will host the international Observe the Moon evening

The global event encourages observation and understanding of science, exploration

Members of the public are invited to join us for International Observe the Moon Night on Saturday, October 1 beginning at 3:30 p.m. The free event will be held at the Dale Etheridge Planetarium on the Las Vegas North Campus of the College of Southern Nevada.

International Observe the Moon Night is a global public event that encourages observation, appreciation and understanding of the Moon and its connection to space science, exploration and human culture. This annual event connects scientists, educators and Moon enthusiasts around the world.

The event at the Dale Etheridge Planetarium at CSN will be held from 3:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. and will include four free moon-themed planetarium shows, STEM activities, and educational resources for kids and families with The Moon Adventure Game , telescope observations with the Las Vegas Astronomical Society and NASA TV in the lobby with special coverage of International Observes the Moon Night.

The Las Vegas Astronomical Society will be outside the planetarium after sunset with telescopes, offering visitors a guided tour of the Moon, planets and other celestial objects.

International Observe the Moon Night is sponsored by NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) mission and the Solar System Exploration Division of NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, with numerous contributors. LRO is managed by NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, for the Science Mission Directorate at NASA Headquarters in Washington, D.C.
